Concrete Patios
Concrete Patio Contractors in Mason & West Chester, Ohio
Custom patios designed for comfort, beauty, and long-lasting performance — built on the same spec as everything else we pour.
The perfect outdoor gathering space starts with the slab. A concrete patio is the foundation of everything you'll do in that backyard for the next thirty years — the cookouts, the fire pit nights, the morning coffee. Ohio Valley Concrete & Hardscapes designs and pours custom concrete patios across Mason, West Chester, Liberty Township, and the surrounding Warren and Butler County suburbs, from clean broom-finished slabs to fully stamped entertaining spaces with borders, steps, and seat walls.
We're veteran-owned and locally based in Maineville, and we build patios the way we build driveways: proper base, real reinforcement, drainage handled before the pour. A patio carries less load than a driveway, but Ohio's freeze-thaw doesn't care what's parked on it — the slab that skips base prep heaves and cracks just the same.
Designed for How You Live
A Patio Shaped Around the Way You'll Use It
A 12x12 square off the back door is rarely the right answer. We size and shape every patio around the furniture, the grill, the traffic paths, and the views — then we chalk the footprint out in the yard so you can stand in the space before we commit it to concrete. These are the building blocks:
- Broom finish — clean, classic, and the best traction underfoot — the workhorse patio surface.
- Stamped patterns — ashlar slate, Italian slate, or wood plank texture pressed into the surface.
- Integral color — pigment mixed through the full slab depth, so the color never wears off.
- Decorative borders — a stamped or colored band framing a broom-finished field.
- Steps & seat walls — poured transitions and built-in seating that tie the patio to the yard.
- Fire pit ready — footings and clearances planned in from day one, not retrofitted.
The Specs
Every OHV Patio Carries the Same Numbers
A patio slab goes in at a full 4 inches of 4,000 PSI air-entrained concrete over 4 inches of compacted gravel base. The air entrainment — 5 to 7% microscopic bubbles in the mix — is what lets the slab survive Ohio's dozens of annual freeze-thaw cycles without spalling. Reinforcement sits on chairs in the middle of the slab, and control joints land at 8–10 foot spacing, worked into the pattern lines on stamped work so they disappear into the design.
Pitch matters more on a patio than almost anywhere else: the slab falls 1/8" per foot away from your foundation, so storm water leaves the patio instead of finding your basement. You can walk the new surface in 24–48 hours, set furniture at 7 days, and the slab reaches design strength at 28. Sealed at the finish, resealed every 2–3 years — that's the whole maintenance plan.
Compare that to a wood deck: no boards to restain every other summer, no joists rotting underneath, no splinters in bare feet. A concrete patio costs less per square foot than a comparable deck and outlives two of them — which is why so many of our projects start as deck tear-outs.
Our Process
Five Steps From Backyard to Built
01
Design walkthrough
We walk the yard, talk about how you entertain, and chalk out the footprint so you can stand in it before anything is final.
02
Excavate & base
Sod and topsoil out, four inches of compacted gravel base in — graded to pitch water away from the house at 1/8" per foot.
03
Form & reinforce
Forms set to final elevations, reinforcement placed on chairs in the middle of the slab.
04
Pour & finish
4,000 PSI air-entrained concrete, finished broom or stamped — joints placed at 8–10 ft and worked into the design lines.
05
Seal & walk-through
Sealer applied, site cleaned, and a final walk-through with you before we call it done.
Patios Built Across the North Suburbs
We pour concrete patios throughout Mason, Liberty Township, and Springboro — the Springboro transformation in our gallery started as a bare back corner. If you're leaning toward texture and color, the stamped & decorative concrete page covers patterns in depth, and a patio cover turns the finished slab into a true outdoor room. For budget numbers up front, our concrete patio cost guide lays out real Warren County pricing by size and finish.
